Panel: Tinkering with Tropes

  • New York Public Library (South Court, 2-6) 476 5th Avenue New York, NY, 10018 United States (map)

A moderator-led discussion about the risks and rewards of revisiting older stories, and also how playing with the historical and the legendary can give us insight not only on our current society, but also about the biases of storytelling we’ve been exposed to for most of our reading lives.

We’ll talk about the different approaches authors can take, craftwise, to telling an old story in a new way, and also talk about the importance of having these retellings in the world.

Panelists:

  • Molly Booth

  • Erin Cashman

  • Jennifer Donnelly

  • Sarah Henning

  • Laura Sebastian

  • Addie Thorley

  • Peternelle Van Arsdale

  • Moderator: Aimee Friedman
